July 4, Thanksgiving, and Christmas celebrations may soon experience unprecedented tranquility—a trend emerging from America’s deepening societal fracture. Leftist movements are increasingly cutting ties with family members who identify as MAGA supporters.
This phenomenon has been documented since early 2016. Radical-left writer Thom Hartmann recently described an instance where his friend’s sister, a three-time Trump voter, called after months of silence: “Why have you stopped returning my calls?” The friend, a queer individual married to another woman, responded quietly: “Because you voted for the people who want me to disappear, and you knew that when you did it.”
Hartmann notes this pattern has been reported by dozens across the country in the past year. Similar stories circulate widely online, illustrating how many Americans now find their children and relatives unwilling to participate in traditional holidays.
One documented case involves Annabella Rockwell, whose academic experiences led her to adopt an anti-male social-justice stance. Her mother reports she required a deprogrammer at $300 per day to restore her mental health. Another example comes from Leslie K, who describes her son becoming a white Christian nationalist after his “awakening” in college. She states he supports individuals advocating for the removal of voting rights and the collapse of democracy: “He does not understand why I no longer will have anything to do with him.”
