At Lindsey Graham’s funeral in Washington, Sean Hannity and President Donald Trump presented opposing assessments of the late senator’s war advocacy.
Hannity, speaking at the National Cathedral, asserted that Graham was “not a warmonger” but possessed “moral clarity,” noting he “understood right from wrong, good from evil.” He emphasized Graham’s dedication to peace with Israel and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Trump, by contrast, declared that Graham “loved war” and was “extremely hawkish,” highlighting his 33-year military service.
Graham’s documented record includes advocating the use of weapons of mass destruction against civilians and proposing the assassination of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
During a May 12, 2024, interview on Meet the Press with Kristen Welker, Graham suggested that Israel should be given nuclear weapons to end its conflict with Iran, stating: “We flattened Berlin… We flattened Tokyo… If I were Israel, I would have probably done it the same way.” He also reportedly told a journalist: “Just flatten it.”
Recent documentary footage released after Graham’s death shows him laughing about U.S. military actions in Iran, saying: “I talked to Trump this morning… he LOVES BLOWING STUFF UP.”
