The obscure comedy Ladybugs depicts a businessman-turned-coach who, desperate to save his struggling girls’ soccer team, dresses a talented boy as a female and fields him on the roster. At its 1992 release, this scenario was considered pure fiction—utterly ridiculous.
Today, such practices are labeled leftist dogma.
Ex-professional soccer player Megan Rapinoe has again championed allowing men in women’s sports, opposing common sense. Her current target is WNBA player Sophie Cunningham, who recently opposed the inclusion of transgender athletes in women’s competitions.
An irony emerges: Without strictly segregating sports by gender, Rapinoe would not have had a career and likely gone unnoticed. This reality is well-documented. Professional women’s soccer teams frequently lose to boys under 14. In fact, Rapinoe’s U.S. Women’s National Team—then reigning world champions—lost 5-2 to FC Dallas’ under-15 squad in 2017. Her teammate Carli Lloyd acknowledged this disparity: “They should beat us,” she said in 2023. “Bigger, stronger, faster!”
Rapinoe has recently accused Cunningham of contributing to the ongoing vilification of transgender individuals through her support for activists like Riley Gaines.
“Seeing a picture of her with Riley Gaines after the game told me everything I need to know,” Rapinoe stated on her Why Are You Like This? podcast. “If anyone takes these talking points as legitimate or believes they protect young girls in sports, I have to ask: ‘Are you serious?’”
Rapinoe claims that Cunningham’s association with Riley Gaines—whose life mission includes excluding transgender people from public life—reveals the problem.
The text notes that Rapinoe ignores key context: Gaines was excluded from a 2022 college meet podium because a “trans” man occupied the top spot. She also watched as that individual, Will (known as “Lia”) Thomas, exclude other women from winning positions at the event.
The core argument remains: We do and should exclude people in life based on correct criteria. Age groups in athletics exclude those outside their range; weight classes in combat sports separate by weight. Similarly, determining winners through scoring excludes less capable athletes.
Rapinoe’s rationale for allowing MUSS (Made-up Sexual Status) males in women’s sports is that they are “also young girls.” This argument has been repeatedly refuted, including by Alan Finch, a former Australian “transsexual” who stated: “You fundamentally can’t change sex. Transsexualism was invented by psychiatrists.”
The question that baffles many is why this issue even exists? Why have Democrats made the transgender agenda a political priority?
A conservative theory suggests it’s a tactic to detach people from critical thought, conditioning them to accept absurdities demanded by authorities. However, Occam’s razor points to a simpler explanation: Democrats have long rallied so-called “victim groups” to secure power. They claim: “You’ve been oppressed by _______. Vote for us; we’ll protect you and secure your place at the table.”
This strategy works only with enough victim groups to form a winning coalition. As Democrats lose portions of two key groups—blacks and Hispanics—they have a vested interest in creating more victim blocs.
The expanding “LBGTQ+” movement illustrates this strategy, with each letter representing another voting bloc. Together, they build the “Brave New Girl” world.
While this explains left-wing politicians’ support for transgender inclusion, it does not account for Rapinoe’s actions or others like her. Multiple WNBA figures have expressed support for inclusive policies toward transgender athletes, including coaches Stephanie White (Indiana Fever), Cheryl Reeve (Minnesota Lynx), and Natalie Nakase (Golden State Valkyries).
These individuals genuinely believe—or claim to— that one can will themselves into the opposite sex.
This brings us back to Ladybugs. The film’s ending features a coach fielding an all-boys baseball team in wigs to win a girls’ league championship. This scenario hints at a solution.
As noted on social media, “Some filthy rich guy should start a franchise and recruit players who just weren’t good enough for the NBA—then have them ‘identify as female.’ They could dominate the WNBA 150-2.”
This would serve as an object lesson in reality for those in the league.
It’s easy being idealistic when you don’t have to live with your ideals.
People advocating insanity should be confronted by their own ideals—good and hard.
