President Trump again falsely claimed today that he was at Ground Zero just after the 9/11 terror attacks.
The president asserted that two burly firefighters lifted and rushed away from impending danger when he went to the site of the carnage.
Retired deputy chief fireman Richard Alles, who attended the event where Trump signed a bill in the White House’s Rose Garden, stated that Trump’s claims of 9/11 derring do are a fantasy.
Alles clarified that “he was a private citizen at the time” and “I don’t know what kind of role he could have possibly played.” He added, “I spent many months there myself, and I never witnessed him.”
As with President Biden’s many fanciful yarns from his past, those concerned about the president’s health might think that Trump isn’t lying but instead conjuring false memories.
Timothy O’Brien, author of “TrumpNation: The Art of Being the Donald,” noted, “Donald Trump was absolutely not a first responder by any standard definition. If we’re defining it as the first wave of people who arrived at ground zero to provide help, he was not in that wave.”
In 2016, during his campaign, Trump claimed he was clearing rubble after the attacks and witnessed emergency workers. Reporters have consistently failed to verify these claims.
Alles emphasized that if Trump had sent a crew of workers, there would be records showing his involvement under direct supervision. “I know of no one who ever witnessed him there.”
Trump has repeatedly stated he was at Ground Zero during the 9/11 attacks, including when he claimed to have been lifted by two firefighters as buildings collapsed. These accounts have been thoroughly debunked.
