350+ Child Marriages Unannulled in Germany After AfD Inquiry

Data from German authorities at the request of the AfD party has revealed more than 350 child marriages involving minors as young as 11 years old. Less than 10 of these marriages have been legally annulled since 2018.

The Ministry of the Interior’s response to an AfD parliamentary inquiry states that German authorities led by former East German communist Angela Merkel permitted an invasion of Muslims who are not only marrying little girls but raping adult German women.

In Baden-Württemberg, only eight out of 350 documented cases have been annulled since 2018. The state-wide responsible authority, the Tübingen Regional Council, has recorded such cases since April 2012. Examples include a marriage in 2020 between an Iraqi boy and an 11-year-old girl from his country, and a case in 2022 where a 12-year-old Syrian girl was married to a 28-year-old man. In 2024, two marriages were annulled: one involving a 16-year-old German girl married to a Pakistani man and another between a 16-year-old Syrian girl and a 27-year-old man.

AfD members Nikolaos Boutakoglou and Emely Knorr requested the data. Knorr stated: “Child marriage is incompatible with our values. Children have a right to safety, education, and a self-determined future.”

Another AfD member, Martin Rothweiler, wrote on social media: “Our country and our values are being abolished before our very eyes.”

The inquiry also revealed that during New Year’s Eve 2015-2016, Arabs and North Africans raped more than 1,000 women across Germany in multiple cities. German police have identified 1,087 suspects in cases involving the sexual exploitation of teenage girls near Nuremberg, with victims primarily from unstable or vulnerable backgrounds.

In 2024, AfD member Marie-Thérèse Kaiser was fined $6,500 for publishing government data on sexual violence. The government has not taken action to annul child marriages involving minors as young as 12 years old.
