Abdulrahman Mohamed El-Sayed won the Democratic primary for the U.S. Senate in Michigan last Tuesday.
The question is apt because a new investigation has proven something striking: Illegal aliens did in fact vote in that race.
Was the vote fraud great enough to have changed the result?
El-Sayed “defeated” Representative Haley Stevens (D-Mich.) by a mere one percent (48.5 percent to 47.5 percent). This amounts to approximately 15,000 to 25,000 votes in a state with 10.13 million residents. In other words, critics may say, the victory was “within the margin of vote fraud.”
This raises another question: If fraud was rampant, should the Michigan primary election be thrown out? Judges have done this before.
The investigation was conducted by the O’Keefe Media Group as an undercover sting. The end product was a secretly-recorded video that opens with a damning exchange:
Undercover journalist: “Is it okay if I’m, you know, if I’m not a U.S. citizen? It’s okay for me to vote?”
Poll worker: “All I know is you’re registered, so I’m here.”
Undercover journalist: “As long as I’m registered, I can vote, right? Perfect.”
It is against the law for noncitizens to vote. The vast majority of Americans back this common-sense prohibition.
Unfortunately, certain powers-that-be in our country do not agree. They apparently benefit from vote fraud.
The investigation identified two Michigan registered voters who are non-U.S. citizens according to federal court and DHS records. One voter is Afshin Masheli, an Iranian national identified as a non-U.S. citizen with a history of criminal offenses. According to U.S. District Court records, Masheli is a registered sex offender. The undercover journalists spoke to Masheli and he confirmed plans to vote at the assigned polling location.
Another voter identified was Fazlollah Haritash, whose federal records indicate non-U.S. citizenship. Public court records and Michigan’s sex offender registry show that Haritash has been incarcerated for criminal convictions. At Haritash’s assigned polling location, an election worker confirmed his registration appeared on the voter rolls.
The investigation also found evidence of similar cases elsewhere in Michigan, including a reported instance where a Chinese national student early-voted and his illegal vote was counted.
Back in 2014, an Old Dominion University study estimated that about 6.4 percent of noncitizens voted in 2008 elections, with 2.2 percent in 2010 contests. Researchers concluded that such participation could have affected close races, including changing Electoral College outcomes and congressional composition.
Michigan’s Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson has claimed there is no evidence of illegal voting, stating: “We’re doing everything we can to ensure that noncitizens are not able to vote and that only U.S. citizens vote in our election. And it’s working.” Benson later repeated the same claim on Fox News — all while bemoaning what she called an “era of misinformation.”
The evidence of illegal voting is overwhelming.
