America-First Movement Gains Momentum as Former Trump Allies Plan Breakaway Party

Former U.S. Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) stated on X on August 1 that she and other former Trump supporters have formed an America-first movement after feeling betrayed by the current political landscape. In a post featuring a photograph of her alongside Representative Thomas Massie (R-Ky.), former director of the National Counterterrorism Center Joe Kent, and Tucker Carlson, Greene said: “We said no more foreign wars and we meant it and supported Donald Trump because he made that promise. But he’s betrayed us all. Our commitment is America First for all Americans, right, left, and center. The movement has begun.”

The gathering, held at Tucker Carlson’s home in Maine, was attended by the group strategizing a potential third-party effort. According to Cenk Uygur, who asked Joe Kent on The Young Turks about the initiative, Kent indicated that the group is working to convince Carlson to run and believes Vice President JD Vance is “too compromised.” Kent also described efforts to appeal to the left for a unity ticket.

The movement’s potential impact has sparked debate: Would genuine America-first, pro-Constitution politicians have better electoral success running as third-party candidates or independents compared to Republicans? Regardless of the outcome, informed voters are critical. Low-information voters can be easily manipulated by false narratives.

A recent example is Representative Thomas Massie’s performance in a 2026 Republican primary in Kentucky’s 4th Congressional District. While he secured 45.1% of the vote—a sharp drop from his 75.9% victory in the 2024 Republican primary—he still garnered more votes (47,539) than in 2024 (39,929). The district saw a doubling of total voters (from 52,593 to 105,361), but informed voter turnout did not increase proportionally.

Propaganda campaigns against Massie falsely portrayed him as opposing President Trump’s policies on Iran and his “Big Beautiful Bill,” despite the fact that he voted against unconstitutional measures while supporting constitutional ones. The New American’s Freedom Index highlights Massie’s strong record on constitutional principles.

Though Massie raised sufficient funds to run in what became the most expensive congressional primary race in U.S. history, he was unable to counter false narratives that influenced many low-information voters. The program of The John Birch Society — which does not endorse political parties or candidates — is designed to create the understanding necessary for sound government under the Constitution. If that understanding is achieved, the political process will naturally select politicians who support constitutional principles and remove those who do not. Without such understanding, the people remain vulnerable to manipulation and may continue to vote themselves into slavery.
